Divine Mercy Novena Day 4

Where would we be without C.S. Lewis...and so many others who did not know God at some point in their lives or another? Sure, we would have still had G.K. Chesterton and a number of other more contemporary Christian writers and apologists....but it would not have been the same without The Chronicles of Narnia? No Aslan! No Voyage of the Dawn Treader! No Prince CASPIAN! I can't imagine it would be too easy for another Christian writer to explain things as well as C.S. Lewis explained them...because Lewis (unlike many other Christian writers) KNEW what it was like to look at God from the other side of the fence. He knew exactly what kind of synonyms he needed to use and what arguments needed to be made.

When we are called to pray for those who do not know God, I think of C.S. Lewis and all of the kicking and screaming he went through before he welcomed God with an open heart. I think of the impact he made on the world and how he has influenced so many individuals throughout time. Today, we are called to pray for people such as Lewis, the people of this world who do not yet know God...the people who will change the world once they do know God. I can't wait to see what the next C.S. Lewis has in store for the greater glory of God!

Day 4
"Today bring to Me those who do not believe in God and those who do not know Me, I was thinking also of them during My bitter Passion, and their future zeal comforted My Heart. Immerse them in the ocean of My mercy."

Most compassionate Jesus, You are the Light of the whole world. Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who do not believe in God and of those who as yet do not know You. Let the rays of Your grace enlighten them that they, too, together with us, may extol Your wonderful mercy; and do not let them escape from the abode which is Your Most Compassionate Heart.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of those who do not believe in You, and of those who as yet do not know You, but who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Draw them to the light of the Gospel. These souls do not know what great happiness it is to love You. Grant that they, too, may extol the generosity of Your mercy for endless ages. Amen.

Pax Vobiscum
