Divine Mercy Novena Day 3

Today is Easter, which is awesome. Part of the reason that makes mass on Easter so awesome is all of the people you see crowding the pews. Some of us regular churchgoers (myself included) can sometimes be tempted to grimace a little when we encounter the lack of parking and pew space due to this influx. We may even grumble a bit when we see the hordes of people going up to receive the Eucharist. HOWEVER, one of the great things about having all of these people in mass is that these people ARE THERE WITH YOU. That's right, regardless of how busy they may be on weekends, and whatever excuse they may have to skip mass on any other given Sunday (Christmas aside).....NO EXCUSE was able to hold them back from mass this Easter. All of extra people there today would not let all of those excuses get in the way of celebrating such a wonderful moment in history when God became man, when Son died for our sins, and when Christ came back from the dead to complete the story of our salvation. This faith, as wavering as it may be on any other given day, is present today when all of these people take part in this celebration with their fellow Catholics...with Christ (who is present in the Eucharist), and many others around the world. THIS IS GREAT...I just wish they could come more often.

Fortunately, for us, Christ does not forget his faithful regardless of how much faith they may have. Regardless of whether or not they are full of faith or running on faith fumes, Christ reminds us to pray for them all (yes, even the guy who stole your parking spot by the church parking lot exit....). Today we pray for all of the devout and faithful souls. We pray for those whose faith is strong as well as the faithful who may need a little bit of help strengthening their faith. Feel free to pray today with the most devout person you know in mind (who knows what demons they are battling in their own spiritual lives) or the least devout person you know (perhaps all they may need is a little nudge towards Christ).

Day 3

For the devout who stand at Christ's cross daily and for
the faithful who are there for this birth and resurrection

"Today bring to Me all Devout and Faithful Souls, and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. These souls brought me consolation on the Way of the Cross. They were a drop of consolation in the midst of an ocean of bitterness."

Most Merciful Jesus, from the treasury of Your mercy, You impart Your graces in great abundance to each and all. Receive us into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart and never let us escape from It. We beg this grace of You by that most wondrous love for the heavenly Father with which Your Heart burns so fiercely.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon faithful souls, as upon the inheritance of Your Son. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, grant them Your blessing and surround them with Your constant protection. Thus may they never fail in love or lose the treasure of the holy faith, but rather, with all the hosts of Angels and Saints, may they glorify Your boundless mercy for endless ages. Amen.

Pax Vobiscum
